She passed away December 4, 2022, surrounded by her family. Joyce spent her last couple of months back on the farm. She made and sent countless homemade greeting cards. ![]() She was a creative person who enjoyed painting and crafting. Joyce also loved time spent in her garden. They loved camping and spending time out on the water on their boat. The Heckman family had a lot of very memorable vacations together. After retirement, Joyce and Delbert lived on Tablerock Lake near Branson, Missouri for ten years before moving to Lacona in 2001. She also worked at Brenton Bank in Indianola. She was a teacher at both I-35 and Indianola Community Schools. The couple was blessed with two children, Jerry and Jolene. They started their married life together on the farm. On May 28, 1954, Joyce was united in marriage to Delbert Heckman. After graduating from high school, Joyce continued her education at the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She was one of three children born to John and Marie (Joens) Peters. Joyce Elaine Peters was born at home, southwest of Ocheyedan, Iowa on August 10, 1932. Memorials may be made in Joyce’s name to the Lacona Fire Department. Interment will follow at the New Virginia Cemetery. Family will receive friends prior to the service, from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. Heckman, 90, will be Friday, December 9, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. He is survived by his wife, Lois children: David Hoch of Ames, Deanna (Joe) Akers of Grimes, and Derek Hoch of Des Moines two granddaughters: Katlyn (Dylan) Gordon of Altoona and Kristen (Keaton) Madison of Boone siblings: Andy Hoch, Mary Dittmer, Ron Hoch, and Ed (Linda) Hoch sister-in-law, Pat Hoch and many other relatives and friends.ĭenny was preceded in death by his parents, Norb and Josephine Hoch, and siblings: Irma Schaefer, Leo Hoch, Glen Hoch, Ruth Amos, and Joe Hoch.Services for Joyce E. He loved his family and whatever the need be, he was always there with support.ĭenny passed away October 10, 2022, at the age of 80. He loved teasing his two granddaughters and always treasured the time he spent with them. ![]() He enjoyed camping and sitting around the bonfires, visiting with family and friends. ![]() He also enjoyed finding wild berries to pick and then sharing them with others.ĭenny’s favorite thing to do was putting puzzles together, posting them on boards, and hanging them in his storage building. ![]() After retirement on September 1, 2000, from South Central Co-Op, he took employment at the Southeast Warren Community School District, where he worked for about 5 years.ĭenny enjoyed fishing in his spare time, as well as picking up walnuts and shelling them out. He was employed as Petroleum Manager for the South Central Co-Op in Lacona for 38 years. The couple was blessed with three children: David, Deanna, and Derek.ĭenny served in the National Guard from 1963 to 1969 and was a member of the American Legion. Denny attended school in Bauer.ĭenny and Lois (Ripperger) were united in marriage on May 30, 1964, at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Lacona American Legion.ĭennis Henry Hoch was born on September 1, 1942, in Marion County, the eighth child of Norbert and Josephine Hoch, who lived on a farm west of Bauer.
